Overview
This is the fullest day of exploring the wonders of Pearl Harbor and Oahu you can have. This itinerary includes visiting all the sites at Pearl Harbor and taking a helicopter ride to get an amazing final view of the whole island to top it all off.
We start with pickup at your Waikiki accommodation by your small group tour guide. They will guide you around the island and Pearl Harbor. Making sure you get to see everything on your list and also be sure to get to your helicopter check-in on-time.
The first stop is in historic downtown Honolulu. We can see the Kamehameha The Great Statue, The Supreme Courthouse (used in many famous TV shows) and Iolani Palace from one spot. Your guide will tell you legends, stories and entertain you with information about the places you see and visit.
Once at Pearl Harbor, we begin with a historic video about World War II and the significance of Battleship Arizona before you take the boat ride out to visit it. This is a solemn occasion as it’s the final resting place for over 1100 souls.
After a solemn visit to the Arizona Memorial, use your audio guide and make your way to the Submarine museum. Your guide will provide some tips and make sure you have everything you need to enjoy this stop.
Go into the Bowfin Submarine that is parked in the harbor and get up close to the torpedoes, sleeping quarters and galley. It’s a great spot to take pictures. Back topside, the museum exhibits are great for everyone in the family, encouraging guests to have fun. You will love the courtyard and the kids will enjoy the outdoor exhibits. A good spot to relax and take in everything so far.
Next we will head back to the vehicle and drive over the bridge to Ford Island, an active military base. Our drive takes us first to Battleship Missouri where we will be able to explore large sections of the ship. We start with a deck tour, pointing out the interesting areas and historical settings. We then have some time to explore the rest of the ship on your own, or take time to shop or snack back on the pier.
We head over to the Pacific Aviation Museum for lunch at the cafe which has a variety of options to choose from for all diets and needs. This is purchased on your own and not included as part of the tour price. After having some food, you can explore the museum on your own and check out a variety of the hangers. The aviation shop is filled with lots of great Pearl Harbor gifts. The last stop to buy mementos before leaving Ford Island.
From here, we head over to Honolulu Airport to check in for your 45-minute helicopter ride. This fun experience circles the island of Oahu, flying over places like Diamond Head, Haunama Bay, famous North Shore surfing beaches, Dole Pineapple Plantation maze, Koko Crater, and of course Pearl Harbor. You will glimpse the outline of the Battleship Arizona laying in the harbor, laying where it was bombed so many years ago.
Your guide will return you to your Waikiki accommodations after your helicopter flight. Concluding a full day of sightseeing all of the most popular sites on Oahu from either the ground or the sky. It’s the ultimate day for any history buff.
