Walt Disney Studios & WWII
Cartoons That Helped Win The War!
What an incredible time it was to be living in a world torn apart by strife, families being lost and everyone was hurting in some way. To help end the war and bring soldiers home, studios like Walt Disney would lend their expertise, to train, educate, and spread propaganda while being very entertaining. People loved it!
Walt Disney Studio was not alone in this effort as much of Hollywood contributed in various ways. Hundreds of illustrating jobs opened up to women who produced innovative training videos, cartoons everyone loved, and airplane insignias. The most prolific efforts were designing the symbols that adorned allied planes. Over 1200 designs were drawn on thousands of planes from trainers to fighters to bombers.
At the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum until the end of 2024, you can see more than 500 videos, cartoons, symbols, photos, and examples displayed in the pavilion. Best of all, it’s included in our Complete Pearl Harbor Tour. Guests love to see the different aspects of Pearl Harbor in one day and end their day by checking out the planes in air-conditioned comfort.
Below are some of the great options we have to check out the Walt Disney Studios and World War II Exhibit at the Aviation Museum during your visit to Pearl Harbor.
